CTC #89 - Christmas

Welcome to another week at CASEing the Catty, this week we are re-visiting the Christmas section of the Annual Catalogue.  I just love Christmas, and have just held my Christmas in July class so I am feeling very very Christmassy right now.

I took my inspiration from the image above, the cute gift box with the wreath.

Instead of a box, I used the inspiration image to create this card. I used layers of the biggest "swirl" from Swirly Birds Thinlets to create the wreath and give it more dimension and depth.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Sentiments, I learned this weekend that the Thoughtful Banners stamp set has a little border for the new Classic Label which works perfectly with Teeny Tiny Sentiments and gives them a lovely finish.

Time for you to join in the fun, by taking inspiration from the Christmas section of the catalogue and uploading a picture of your creation to the above link to our monthly challenge page.

Time to hop on over and see how Jackie has been inspired.

CTC #88 - Everyday Occasions

Welcome to another CASEing the Catty blog hop, this week we are taking another look at the Every Day Occasions section of the catalogue, it was just so big and full of inspiration we thought it needed another look.

I have taken inspiration from the beautiful Moroccan themed suite of products, in particular the lovely gift bag in the left of the above photo.

I turned the bag into a card, and wanted the deep colours of the Dapper Denim to shine, so used that as the base of my card as well as one of the banner pieces.  TO add just a little but of depth I also sponged the edges of the DSP with Dapper Denim ink.  I really think this deepens the colour of the DSP.  You might notice that the sentiment is a little speckled, this is actually sparkle that didn't photograph very well.  I was going to emboss in clear, however the only clear embossing powder I have had Dazzling Diamonds mixed in!  Guess what is on my next order!

Please join us this week by taking your own inspiration from the catalogue's Everyday Occasions section and add a link to your project to this months linkie on the main CTC Blog.

Time to hop on over to see what Elizabeth has created, I know she has a sneak peek in there for you of a new product available in August!

CTC #87 - Artistic Expressions

Welcome to week 87 of the CASEing the Catty blog hop, this week we are looking at the Artistic Expression section of the catalogue which runs through pages 92 - 157.  That is a lot of pages to be inspired by, and choosing an inspiration project was not an easy task as so many of my favourite stamp sets can be found in this section.

I was finally drawn to the lovely set of cards on page 121 using the Playful Backgrounds stamp set.

I only made three of the set taking rough inspiration from the set in the catalogue, and utilising the wonderful new in-colours.

The first is this card using Dapper Denim, I double stamped the striped image to get the two tones of blue on the card. The sentiment is from Tin of Cards which you might have noticed that I have been using a bit lately.

This next one also uses the Tin of Cards sentiment, and the truly wonderful Sweet Sugarplum. I think this is my faviourite of the new in-colours, such a pretty dusky purpley pink. Adding some sequins gives it just a little bit of bling.

My final card is in Peekaboo Peach which is really vibrant, I thought this one would make a really fun birthday card and added gold sequin trim and gold ribbon.

I hope you are inspired to join in the challenge this week by adding a link to your project to the main challenge page using the link above.  Each month we look at all of the entries and choose a winner.

Time to hop on over and see what the wonderful Bronwyn has created.

CTC #86 - Everyday Occasions

Welcome to another CTC Blog Hop this week we are taking inspiration from the Every Day Occasions section of the Annual Catalogue, pages 61-99.  This is a really big section and it took me a while to find the card I wanted to CASE with so many options, but I finally decided on the cute little thank you card on page 87.

This one inspired me because I had just finished my Tin of Cards from the last catalogue and thought what a cute way to use the tab topper stamp to make a frame for the sentiment. I changed up the colour scheme a bit from the one in the catalogue, and added some beautiful copper embossing powder using the background stamp that is part of You've Got This stamp set.  I love the extra details that Tin of Cards stamp set allows you to add, and I think I will be using it more and more in upcoming cards.  The squiggle stamped down the side of the banner is also great for decorating the backs or sides of envelopes.

I hope I have inspired you to join in this week with the challenge, just look through the Everyday Occasions section of the catalogue and take inspiration from one of the many projects featured.  Then link your creation to the main blog page by following the link above.

Time to hop on over to Julia's blog and see which sample she has taken inspiration from this week.

CTC #85 - Babies & Kids

Welcome to another week of CASEing the Catty, this week we are taking inspiration from the Babies & Kids section of the catalogue.  This is such a cure section, but don't be misled that the only inspiration is for kids cards.
I chose this cute little baby card as my inspiration, you can find it on page 59.

I didn't use it to make a baby card however.  I thought the white embossed images would work perfectly for a card for my husband who has two faviourite animals, one is the cheetah and the other is, you guessed it, hedgehogs!  As soon as I saw the hostess set Love You Lots, with these two cute little hedgehogs I knew it would be in my first order.  The lady beetles in the background are also from the same stamp set, however the sentiment is stamped and punched using the Thoughtful Banners Bundle.

I discovered that the spacing is just perfect on the "I love you" stamp for me to colour just the "I" and "you" and stamp them leaving a little gap.

The gap is perfect for the cursive "love" to sit perfectly in between them and makes it extra easy to add a pop of colour.

Would you like to join in the fun? Just get inspired by one of the projects in the Babies & Kids section of the catalogue and add your project link to the main blog above.

Time to hop on over to Bronwyn's blog to see what inspired her creation.
