Dynamic Birthday

It has been a while since I posted, I can't believe how busy I have been of late. I have had a little bit of time to create including a weekend retreat which was great and I will post some of my creations over the next week or so. Anyway enough excuses, I had a moment on the weekend and spotted the Dynamic Duos colour challenge and thought I would use them for a masculine birthday card I need.

I think that Feeling Sentimental and That's The Ticket go perfectly together and make quite a good masculine card.  The addition of Early Espresso to Island Indigo and Pool Party add a masculine edge, as do the brads.

Hopefully I will have time to do some more creating and posting soon!

JUGS 174

Looks like I am on fire right now - as soon as I look at challenges an idea pops into my head!!!  This was certainly the case with the Just Us Girls sketch challenge.  I am also really loving playing with all my FREE Sale-A-Bration stamps and products.

I used my Framelits for the sentiment and for the 'ribbons', as well as the edges of the banner.  I love my Big Shot, it makes creating cards like this so quick and easy.  I have of course used the very pretty Bloomin' Marvellous set for the sentiments, flowers and butterfly.  The frame and ribbons have been stamped with Illuminate ink using a little stamp from Tiny Tags.

Shaped Card

This week at Just Add Ink the challenge is to make a shaped card.  The perfect challenge for my new set of Hearts Framelits, and the challenge to use them to make an easel card.

I decided to decorate the card like an old fashioned box of chocolates, and used a few of the new products from the new Seasonal Catalogue, the Flower Trim and the Paper Doilies.  These cute little flowers come on a net backing and can be used in a strip or cut into individual flowers, so I decided to use them both ways for this card.  They can also be sponged and dyed to give them more colour - so versatile and you get 90+ of them which is really economical.  The sentiment is from Loving Thoughts and I think fits perfectly with this layout.  This one is more of a Valentine's Day card, but you could use less colour on the layers and make it a beautiful wedding card as well.

Here is a close up of the flower cluster,  I trimmed the net around the individual flowers and adhered them with Sticky Strip, finishing off with an antique brad and a little bit of crochet trim. You can also see the doily that I used, for this card I trimmed the doily down so it only had a small amount of the lace showing.
