Mojo Monday 278

After my last post I decided to go back and create a card for the current Mojo Monday sketch challenge (not one a month old lol).  This sketch had me scratching my head for a while but I was determined to conquer it!
I decided to go with something a little monochromatic and masculine.  The base card is Midnight Muse, which I have layered with brushed gold and some of the Natural Composition DSP brayered with Midnight Muse to bring out the embossed pattern.  In the picture this has come up with a lovely gold hue.  I am not sure about the scalloped circle sentiment, I may keep fiddling with that and see if I come up with anything else!

The main stamped image is from Feeling Sentimental set from the Sale-A-Bration promotion, the sentiment from Petite Pairs.

I did a re-work of the sentiment, I think this one fits with the feel of the card more than the first.  I added some corner stamping with another of the Sale-A-Bration sets Madison Avenue.

Can you believe I still wasn't happy with my card?  I have made one FINAL change to the sentiment and am now going to leave it well alone!

A Little Bit Late

Here is a funny story ... I somehow managed to look at an old Mojo Monday sketch instead of the current one lol.  This sketch was put up 31st December, but I decided to link it anyway to give context to my card, maybe I need more sleep.

Here is the card I made from the sketch.  I always keep fairly close to a sketch when I do a challenge, and this is no different.  I added an extra layer of perforations on the Framelits and stamped off the Rich Razzleberry flowers to mirror the layers of colour on the DSP.  I really wasn't sure about the colours in this DSP but I am really liking them.

The ribbon, stamps and DSP are all available FREE as part of Sale-A-Bration, see the link to the flyer at the top of the right panel on my blog.

Just Made It

I am off work for the week and have been enjoying some down time, but this afternoon I decided to have a browse through some of my favourite challenge blogs and came across the Just Add Ink sketch challenge. Trouble was I only had a few hours to get it finished and meet the deadline - whew, made it.

I wanted to use some of the Sale-A-Bration (SAB) papers and stamps that I earned recently and decided for this sketch I would use my new Borders Scoring Plate, available in the upcoming Seasonal Catalogue that goes live on 1st February.  It has lots of patterns that you can dry emboss onto cards, for this card however I used the overlay sheet as a ruler and drew the curved lines and then cut with scissors.  If you zoom in on the picture you can see I also added a couple of dry embossed lines as well.  The Window Frames I ran through the Big Shot twice, the second time moving it so that I ended up with a more oval shape then ran through the Big Shot again with my Designer Frames oval folder.  The butterfly, flowers, bird and sentiment are all from the Bloomin' Marvellous stamp set that you can also earn for FREE!

ESAD Sale-A-Bration Blog Hop

It is that exciting time in the Stampin' Up! year when everyone can earn a range of products for FREE!  That is right, its Sale-A-Bration (SAB) time again, and that means another ESAD Blog Hop.  You may be starting with my blog, or you may have hopped on over from visiting Cristie's Creative Corner.

I wanted to make a project with the Pretty Petites and matching Petite Curly Label punch.  I love this set, and not just because I love any stamp set that comes with a punch lol.  I think it is just the right size for gift cards, so I made a set of cards and cute little matching box.

Here are all five cards, on which I have used the latest In-Colours, and layered the Pretty Petites with Daydream Medallions and the 1 1/4" Scallop Circle Punch available in the Holiday Catalogue.  I love how well these layer together to draw your eye to the centre of the card.  These little cards are also great because  at 3" x 3" they fit perfectly inside the mini square envelopes from Stampin' Up!

For this card I used the Yum stamp and paired Gumball Green and Summer Starfruit, this would be perfect attached to a fruit basket, box of chocolates or home made treats.

Made with Raspberry Ripple and Gumball Green this little cutie is clearly ready to pass birthday wishes to someone special.
Summer Starfruit and Primrose Petal are a cute little combo on this card, great for when words either aren't enough or aren't needed at all.

This little card could be used for a birthday or attached to a gift for any occasion, this little card is made using Midnight Muse and Raspberry Ripple.

Finally a little 'hello' card when there isn't an occasion  but you want to remind someone you care, I chose a combination of Primrose Petal and Midnight Muse for this one so it could go to a female or male friend.

While I have only used 5 of the stamps, there are actually 8 in the set, yours free with any $100 purchase of current Stampin' Up! products, how great is that!  I hope you have enjoyed seeing my little set of cards, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the ESAD blog hop, the next stop is over at Bethinking where Beth has some more SAB products to show you.

Colourful Mashup

I am enjoying my final couple of days of holidays before heading back to work tomorrow and while I haven't been as busy at the craft desk as I was hoping I have achieved a lot around the house and did get chance to join in with the Colour Q and Friday Mashup Challenges.

Colour Q this week was to pick one of the 2012 colour combos that a member of the Design Team had chosen, there are some lovely ones to choose from but the one Yapha used with Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, Crumb Cake and White. I love how these colours look together, and I had fun deciding how I would use them on the sketch and incorporate some hearts.  You can see the new Sale-A-Bration Pretty Petites set used again here for the outline on the vertical banner, the hearts in the centre were stamped using the little heart from the Create a Cupcake set stamped and then stamped off for alternate hearts.

I think this card takes the lead in most number of stamp sets and tools used, see if you can spot them all ...

  • Bitty Banners Framelits - on the sentiment
  • Fashionable Hearts Embosslits - for the two hearts
  • Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit - I ran the two hearts through this embosslit to get the embossed hearts on them
  • 1" Square Punch - for the end of the vertical banner
  • Stamp-A-Ma-Jig - for lining up the frames and hearts
  • Pearls
  • Elegant Butterfly Punch
  • Papillon Potpourri
  • Creative Elements
  • Short and Sweet
  • Pretty Petites
  • Create a Cupcake
I also used my Paper Trimmer, Snips, SNAIL and Bone Folder, and I think for such a simple layout that isn't bad! I was about to hit the publish button and realised I didn't mention my embossing powder and heat tool!!!

Gusseted Bag Toppers

Final Christmas Gift to show you are ones I made for my husband and daughter, I wanted to make them something special and unique just from me!

I had made them some candied cashews (coated with chai sugar and caramel syrup and baked).  I packaged them up in some of the gusseted cello bags that Stampin' Up! have in the current Holiday Catalogue, and the good news is these are going to still be available in the new Seasonal Catalogue as well! For these I put a base in the bottom of the bag to help them hold their shape (5" x 2 7/8").

I made the toppers from the Window Frames Dies in Raspberry Ripple and Gumball Green DSP and matching ribbon.  The sentiment is from the Greetings of the Season set.  Both hubby and daughter loved them and the nuts inside, and luckily for me are both willing to share!!!
