Mosaic Blues

I have been having fun recently playing with the products I recieved in the pre-order for the new Annual Catalogue to be released on 2nd July - that is just a week away.  That means only 1 more week to purchase items on the retirement list before they are gone for ever, visit my store now to pick up some last minute bargains.

I kept this card in monotones using Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay, I just love these two together. My daughter looked at this card and she said it reminded her of snowflakes.  I used the new embossing folder to match the Mosaic Madness stamps, but put it through the Big Shot with no tabs so that the impression was more subtle.

No time to write more ... I am off to do some more creating!!!

CAS Birthday

"Less is More"
I had time this morning to whip up a card before I get stuck into the housework for the day, so I decided to join in the Less is More Birthday Challenge.

I have been wanting to use Pleasant Poppies stamp since I ordered it (I won't say how long ago lol), and this seemed to be the perfect opportunity.  I stamped with StazOn Black onto watercolour paper and then coloured using blender pens with Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe, with a touch of Summer Starfruit.  The sentiment is from Happy Day, a new stamp set from the upcoming Annual Catalogue, released here in Australia on 2nd July.

Sympathy

Isn't it hard to make a sympathy card?  I always say I am going to have a few on hand for when they are needed, but never seem to make them.  This week one of the ladies I work with lost her mother to cancer, so I wanted to make a card for the team to send to her.

I took a lot of inspiration from Lee Conry, you can see her original card here.  I added the sentiment from Loving Thoughts by stamping it on Vellum and cutting the ends with the new Mosaic Punch.  To do this thread the strip of vellum or card stock back through the bottom of the punch and line it up with the section you want.  I repeated this process with Basic Black to create the layer.
With the card being square I felt the top right hand needed 'something' so I stamped the small butterfly onto the card and again onto Vellum which I punched out and adhered so the wings would lift slightly.

On the inside I added a folded card to allow for more people to be able to sign the card.  I stamped the same image from the Serene Silhouettes onto the corner to tie it all together.

Addit: Still addINKtive have a "spot that stamp set" challenge with the Serene Silhouettes stamp set, pop over and see the other lovely creations with this set.

Sketched Birthday ... Take 3

Here is my third (and final) card using Sketched Birthday ...

I wanted to do a more traditional 'blackboard technique' for this one but also bring in a couple of our new In-Colours: Crisp Cantaloupe and Coastal Cabana.  I also had cut and offset the stamped image to add some dimension.

I have a little tip for you on how to use the Paper Piercing Template.  I find that sometimes it wriggles just slightly by the time I make it all around the pattern.  A simple solution is to lay your cardstock down on the Paper Piercing Mat and line up the template over the top, then use a couple of thumb tacks to secure it in place.  I found that putting them in diagonally opposite corners worked best.

Sketched Birthday Take 2

I hope you liked my last birthday card made with the Sketched Birthday stamp set.  I decided to take the colour coach and use a very different colour combo including two of the new refresh colours*: Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry* and Bermuda Bay*.

This is a much brighter card!  I decided to use some White Embossing Powder on the stamped image and replaced the ribbon with a strip stamped using the new Tape It stamp set.  I must say I overlooked this set on my first couple of browses through the catalogue, but having been lucky enough to have a play with it (my friend Cathy won a set as part of Prize Patrol at Convention) I can really see a lot of different applications, and it is now on my wish list!

I have one more sample using Sketched Birthday and this layout, so pop back tomorrow to check it out.

Sketched Birthday

Have you ever been stuck for ideas about what colour combo to use?  I am quite often, and today was no different, I was just back from my trip to Sydney and wanted to get busy creating but not sure where to start with colours.  I decided to pick up my new Colour Coach and pick a combo that included at least one of our new colours from the colour refresh.  I chose one of the combos on the back of the Wisteria Wonder colour card which was Wisteria Wonder, Soft Sky (new) and Sahara Sand.

I was really happy with how this card turned out, I used Sahara Sand for the base card and added the party hats and balloons from the Sketched Birthday stamped in Versamark for the background.  The ribbon is the Organza coloured with Soft Sky then heated with the heat tool to both set the colour and to gently wrinkle the ribbon.  I added some Dazzling Diamonds to the icing, you can see it better in the next picture.

The main image was actually reasonably small and felt a bit lost on the front of the card, so I stamped it in different colours (StazOn, Wisteria Wonder and Soft Sky). I coloured and then cut the cupcake by hand and raised it on a dimensional, cut the centre circle using my 1 1/4" circle punch, then the Soft Sky layer with the scallop circle punch.  By layering different the stamp like this, then mounting the whole thing onto the Window Frames shape it makes a great main image.   I used my paper piercing template and Wisteria Wonder Stampin' Write Marker to add the detail around the window frame.

I think I might go and try another colour combo from my Colour Coach ...

Annual Catalogue Sneak Peek

Don’t you just love new things?  I know I do.  Today my big brown box from Stampin’ Up!® arrived, yes on a Saturday!!!  I am especially excited because it was full of products from the new Annual Catalogue that goes live in the South Pacific Region on 2nd July.

I have used two of the new stamp sets on this card, the first one is Mosaic Madness and the second is Label Love.  As well has having some really cute images Mosaic Madness has a matching embossing folder and DSP, and both sets have a coordinating punch.  How cool is that – no fussy cutting!!!

I have also used the brand new In-Colour Strawberry Slush (doesn’t that just sound yummy?), you can see it on the DSP and the striped mosaic.
